One of the fun things about shooting weddings is every once in awhile you get to shoot your own sibling’s wedding! My younger brother, Aaron, and his girlfriend Angela have been dating since high school and actually met each other right around the time Tanya and I did way back in the day. They are a great match for each other, equally brainy and funny and fantastic cooks, so it was inevitable that one day they would get married.
When Aaron finally proposed, he and Angela started planning a fun-filled wedding on the East Coast. They are both in Doctorate programs at two different universities, and they chose Rock Hall Inn as their wedding location because it was the center point between their two universities and our home town in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The twist for this wedding is that I had duties as both the photographer and the co-best man [with my other brother Colin]. Our daughter, Lily was chosen to be the flower girl [baton waver], and Tanya was her escort down the aisle- so all in all it was a great family affair!
Rock Hall Inn Wedding
Lily was in her element, making sure all the doors to cars were locked and secure.
Since Lily was the flower girl, she had a big responsibility. That was to walk down the aisle in a straight line and wave her little baton around for a bit. She took her responsibilities very seriously and practiced often [after the wedding, for weeks].
We had to bribe her with crackers, but the dress was going on and this thing was happening. Lily quickly realized she was going to get a lot of attention with this giant poofball dress, so she was all about it.
Suddenly it was time to line up, and Lily was nowhere to be…right. It was nap time, and Lily was done with this flower girl thing. She took it upon herself to have some milk and then laid down in the middle of the hallway and passed out. That was the end of that.
Azalia Floral Design did a great job on Aaron and Angela’s arraingements!
Is this not a magical family photo or what? Lily, Tanya, and I with the couple- and boy was she mad. Waking up to Uncle Aaron was not something in the cards.
Tanya made this gorgeous cross stitched image for Aaron and Angela, it captures them perfectly!
The party was not deterred by a flash downpour/thunderstorm. Lily especially loved the umbrellas they had on hand.
Thank you for having us be a part of your beautiful ceremony Angela and Aaron! We are so, so happy for you and wish you all the love in the world. -Ian & Tanya
