Now that things are calming down a bit, I'm catching up on my wedding blogging! This year coming up is going to be insane, so there are still a few entries from last year I want to get out the door:
via Tanya:
This Halloween, Ian and I dressed as photographers and joined our friends Linda and Brian as they celebrated their wedding fifteen years after they first caught each other's eye. Linda and Brian moved in together around the same time that Ian and I moved in together, and with a lot in common we became fast friends. Linda and Brian are avid cyclists, so they decided to hold their wedding outside of Solvang, where there was a weekend bike race scheduled. They got married at the Claremont Lavender Farms, which had a line of oak trees ushering you in, and of course and abundance of lavender. Though the lavender wasn't blooming, the farm owner had the sill running, so the air smelled amazing.
The bride and groom, who are incredibly well suited for one another, were married by one of Brian's minister friends. Their dog, Kody, was one of the groomsmen, and there was a note of humor as the minister asked if there were any objections to the wedding- there was a moment of quiet and then the neighbor's horse started frantically whinnying. The wedding had an excellent backyard farm feel to it complete with an attack rooster who kept all the guests on their toes. After a nice portrait session, we headed to the Storybook Inn for cocktails and a dinner reception. The food was delicious, and it was topped off by a vanilla cake with fresh berries and cream from the Solvang Bakery. After the fun there was still time for the junior groomsmen to trick-or-treat. All in all, it was a pretty sweet day.
