Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Wedding Photography Blog by Photographer Ian Grant bio picture
  • Welcome to Ian Grant Photography

    Thank you for checking in on our blog! My name is Ian and I'm a photographer in greater the Los Angeles area. That's my wife Tanya over there too- she's great with clients and has a fantastic design and fashion sense.   I specialize in Wedding Photography and LA Headshots but you'll often catch me out shooting landscapes and traveling insane distances to visit National Parks in my spare time.

    In my wedding photography I like to combine both, so I guess I'm a landscape-wedding photographer.  I love long roadtrips and have been all over the US from Rhode Island to California. I enjoy planning far away trips and going over to Europe to drive around aimlessly for an extended amount of time. Tanya and I run Ian Grant Photography out of our beach spot in the Los Angeles suburb of Playa del Rey, CA. Enjoy your stay, and feel free to introduce yourself!

    Wedding dates for 2012 are quickly filling up! If you're interested in having us shoot your wedding or event, please contact us and we'll get right back to you! Feel free to let us know your wedding ideas and how we can help!

    Thank you for visiting!

The Masque, Old Punk Club in Hollywood;

I've been shooting a ton lately, but I'm just now getting around to posting some of the goods up! One of latest shoots I did was over at the dying remains of a famous Hollywood punk club called The Masque. It wasn't active for long, but all the graffiti on the walls still remain and is mostly used as storage now. Wikipedia has some more info on it:

The Masque was a small punk rock club in central Hollywood which existed off and on from 1977 to 1979. The Masque, operated by a Scot named Brendan Mullen, was the nexus of the Los Angeles punk scene and frequently featured bands such as X, The Germs, The Mau-Mau's, The Weirdos, The Avengers, The Dils, The Skulls and others. The Go-Gos rented practice space there.

It was closed by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1978, and reopened for a short time later before closing its doors permanently in 1979. Mullen went on to do shows at the Other Masque and later Club Lingerie, both also located in Hollywood. The building was recently renovated (2006). Although the basement where The Masque once was is currently used as storage and most of the walls have been removed, much of the original graffiti still exists along the remaining walls.

Doa Dan - The first graffiti was from the Bags and the Skulls. They left very little room for our"Controllers" . Spazz Attack was in charge of the next graffiti that you see from early 1978.
