Los Angeles and Santa Barbara Wedding Photography Blog by Photographer Ian Grant bio picture
  • Welcome to Ian Grant Photography

Thank you for checking in on our blog! My name is Ian and I'm a photographer in greater the Los Angeles area. That's my wife Tanya over there too- she's great with clients and has a fantastic design and fashion sense.   I specialize in Wedding Photography and LA Headshots but you'll often catch me out shooting landscapes and traveling insane distances to visit National Parks in my spare time.

In my wedding photography I like to combine both, so I guess I'm a landscape-wedding photographer.  I love long roadtrips and have been all over the US from Rhode Island to California. I enjoy planning far away trips and going over to Europe to drive around aimlessly for an extended amount of time. Tanya and I run Ian Grant Photography out of our beach spot in the Los Angeles suburb of Playa del Rey, CA. Enjoy your stay, and feel free to introduce yourself!

Wedding dates for 2012 are quickly filling up! If you're interested in having us shoot your wedding or event, please contact us and we'll get right back to you! Feel free to let us know your wedding ideas and how we can help!

    Thank you for visiting!

My New Camera Was Hard to Get

Manhattan Beach California
Manhattan Beach California

Well the day finally arrived and I was able to pick up my new Canon 5D Mark II! Tanya wrote about the lead up in her blog- thankfully it's a bit of a tamed down version of the actual events. After having pre-orders at Ritz [since October] and B+H [since last week- as I thought I could get one relatively fast] I found I could get one at Best Buy down by Compton [of all places] so this Saturday I got a new camera. You may of heard of Compton before, but I really wanted my new camera. It's awesome.

Since I spend so much time with my cameras, they're kind of like my little children in a way. I know how they react in different lighting situations, I know how to change things around really fast without looking, and I can usually pre-visualize how things are going to look based on the past experiences with it. I think I got roughly 75,000 shots out of my 5D. I hope to get even more out of my new one, but it's always so hard to switch cameras...in a way I always get a little sad when I hear a different shutter sound. I still remember switching from my 10D to my old 5D, I felt sad when I heard that new shutter then too.

Anyway, I took it out to Manhattan Beach for a spin today. This Friday I'm going to south-eastern Utah to take it for a bigger spin. I shall report back later.

PS: Thank you to Earth Friendly Weddings blog for a shout out today. They really liked Beckie and Charles' wedding cake. :)
