I love Ruby Beach and Olympic National Park, they were a big part of me moving up to Washington State. The rustic beaches and tide pools make it a dream to go explore for a little toddler. Tanya and I have a tent hanging around our house so we decided, hey, lets give this camping thing a whirl. Lily would love it! And she did! Since there’s only so many things she can lose a leg on, she ran all over the beach looking for starfish and sea anemones and finding a dead crab or two.

Back in 2010 I had the rather strange and rare experience of being stuck in a Death Valley rainstorm. Apparently these things don’t happen very much, so it was pretty fun to be a part of and see the desert literally flooding around us. On any normal day that would probably be the highlight, but that night we also got a pack of coyotes stalking our run down hostel, but that’s another story.

If you’ve seen all my old posts, you probably know that one of my favorite places in the world is a little park at the top of Big Sur called Point Lobos State Reserve. It’s a fantastic little park with very dramatic scenery, fantastic Monterey Cypress trees, crazy cliff overhangs, and the place where we got married back in 2005.
