Quite literally after another year of Ian and Lily birthdays [we're a day a part], we found ourselves heading back to my hometown of Dartmouth, Massachusetts for a bit of a family emergency. Sadly, my mom passed quite suddenly and everyone found themselves back at the old family homestead. It's always a little surreal heading back home, but we got to take Lily hiking a little bit and show her around a few new places she hasn't been before. Also, I can now say I've purchased airfare 3 hours before leaving my house, a day before Thanksgiving.

I'm still exploring the Pacific Northwest, but I'm convinced if you've got family in town and want to show off a little bit, it's hard to beat the Big Four Ice Caves. This summer Lily was getting a little stir-crazy so I decided it was time to head back to go see the snow, which is still a pretty good novelty in the middle of July. My parents were in town as well, so I got to show off one of my favorite little places.
With this month being the start of fall and all the goodness that comes out of that, we decided to head out and do some pumpkin picking. Our current favorite stop is a place called The Farm at Swan's Trail, a neat little farm by the side of a river with tons of activities for the kids. Our intension of pumpkin picking quickly got squashed when a petting zoo, barn slide, and even better- a corn maze were spotted. Pumpkins were going to have to wait.
I'm self admittedly an over documenter, so it was only natural to start up an Everyday project when my little daughter Lily was born. Actually that's not true, technically I started when Tanya first became pregnant, but that was it's own little thing. Doing an everyday project is kind of a daunting task, but after a couple years of daily documenting it somewhat seems natural. It also shows you how precious photography can be, I wouldn't trade some of those first photos for the world.
