I got a pretty interesting gig recently! I was hired to take some action shots of a downtown Los Angeles metal forging company called California Drop Forge. Essentially they work in the same almost old fashioned blacksmithing technique of heating metal and then smashing it into shape- just on a giant scale. They have massive hammers and heaters and often by hand are wielding these thousand degree chunks of steel and turning it into the things you and I use every day- a very cool learning experience. So, they needed some promo photos for a magazine cover/article that was being put together for Forge magazine. My first cover! Plus nobody caught on fire! A successful shoot had by all.
